Three Pennsylvania State Parks Near Pittsburgh, PA That Are Perfect for Your Elopement

Western PA has several great locations when it comes to choosing an outdoor place to elope. But some of our favorite options include the many state parks located near the Pittsburgh region. Here are three of our favorite spots for couples choosing to have an outdoor focused elopement day!

Ohiopyle State Park

If you’re looking for a scenic elopement option near Pittsburgh (less 2 hours away) that features a beautiful vista view, waterfall and roaring river tucked into the forest, look no further than Ohiopyle State Park. With white water rafting, hiking and bike trails available you can have an adventurous honeymoon and picturesque elopement all in one place. There are plenty of Airbnb's nearby or check out the gorgeous Fernstone Retreat. The variety of accommodations and scenery make for an easy elopement weekend full of nature and glamping!

McConnell’s Mill State Park

A quick 40 minute drive from the city of Pittsburgh, McConnell’s Mill features the winding Slippery Rock creek, multiple waterfalls, hiking trails, bridges, large moss covered boulders and thick forests full of tall trees. Nearby Cleland Rock offers a scenic overview where you can enjoy an amazing view of the forest below. If you want a beautiful lake view on your elopement day, nearby Moraine State Park is the perfect addition. Offering many trails and Lake Arthur with 42 miles of shoreline. We love ending elopements at sunset with the lake in the background! Stay at one of the many nearby Airbnb's, and head into nearby Harmony or Butler for local food and beer to celebrate!

Cook Forest State Park

An easy 2 hour drive from the Burgh is Cook Forest. Widely known for its lush old growth forest, the park’s Forest Cathedral of towering white pines and hemlocks is a National Natural Landmark. The area offers canoeing, kayaking, and tubing along the 13 mile stretch of the Clarion River. Stay at the Gateway Lodge in one of their many cabins and share your vows in the forest. End your day with a three course dining experience back at the Lodge from Taste of the Wilds.
